  • What date is the Holland Hundred each year?
    The Holland Hundred is always the third Saturday in July.
  • How hilly is the route?
    Depends on the route, but no killer hills on any of the routes. 18 Mile: Largest hills are three freeway overpasses 36 Mile: Very level with exception of 2 small, but steep hills 67 & 100 Mile: Level to gently rolling terrain
  • How long until the pancake breakfast?
    Also depends on the route: 18 & 36 Mile: Approximately 8 miles. 67 & 100 Mile: 30-40 miles depending on small route changes from year to year. Strongly recommend leaving before 8 AM for 67 or 100 mile routes.
  • Will I see any lakes?
    Yes, will see 1 to 5 lakes depending on the route. All routes except the 18 mile route will ride along Lake Michigan for a couple miles.
  • Will the New Richmond Bridge be open this year?
    The antique (restored) swing bridge is now open for pedestrian and bicycle use. We will assess the route to determine whether we can use the bridge. The Holland Hundred Bike Tour, and many other groups have contributed to the restoration of this historic landmark.
  • What is a chain ferry?
    The chain ferry is a hand powered ferry utilizing a crank and chain to cross the Kalamazoo River in Saugatuck. There are a couple other rides with ferry service, but we believe the Holland Hundred is unique with the human powered ferry.
  • How are the roads?
    Majority of the roads are lightly traveled, well paved country roads with 55 MPH speed limits. There are a couple of very busy roads (bridges over the Kalamazoo River) and roads in need of repair (lightly traveled, but scenic).
  • There has always been this great guy at the first water stop - did we miss him last year?
    Reverend John Hanse - Pastor Emeritus of Bentheim Reformed Church passed away in 2003 a couple days before the tour. John was an integral part of the ride for many years and will be sadly missed.
  • Is there SAG service on the entire route until 5 PM?
    SAG service ends earlier on the beginning portions of the route. Service is discontinued when the next rest stop closes - times will be listed on the map. The SAG vehicles make every effort to sweep the course and notify all riders when SAG service has ended for any portion of the route. All SAG service ends at 5 PM.
  • Are lunch and dinner served?
    To contain costs, the Holland Hundred offers breakfast and nutritious snacks along the route. Snacks include bread, peanut butter, jelly, fruit, and other items at designated rest stops. We will also provide light refreshments at the end of the tour starting at 10:30am.
  • How can I reach someone during the ride?
    If you are riding you can post a notice. In the event of an emergency, please call the emergency number and we will post notices at each rest stop and notify the SAG vehicles.
  • My 14 year old son would like to ride, but does not have a partner. Any options?
    For safety, comfort, and continuing fun for everyone all riders under 16 must be accompanied by an adult
