2007 Tour Report

The 2007 Holland Hundred Bicycle Tour was our most successful tour to date. The 33rd edition of the Tour boasted 1181 riders!  An amazing leap in ridership of more than 300 riders from the 2006 edition!

The Friday night registration and pre-registration packet pickup for the event at Cross Country Cycle continued to be a bit hit this year…  This allowed pre-registered riders to pickup their material the night before the event and avoid potential long lines at the school the morning of the ride.

This year’s route was changed in the last minute due to construction on Old Allegan Rd and for the first time in several years the route traversed over the restored New Richmond Pedestrian bridge.

Here’s the breakdown of our 2007 ridership:

By Distance

  • 18 Mile Route: 91 riders (8%)
  • 36 Mile Route: 352 riders (29%)
  • 67 Mile (100k) Route: 358 riders (29%)
  • 100 Mile (Century) Route: 390 riders (32%)
  • unknown distance: 25 riders

Men / Woman / Age

  • 837 Male riders
  • 373 Women riders
  • Average Age of a rider was 44.5 years.
  • Oldest Rider: 82 years old
  • Oldest Century Rider: 69 years

90% of our riders were from Michigan, but riders hailed from: Arizona, California, Iowa, Illinois, Indiana, Maryland, Missouri, New Jersey, New York, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, S. Carolina, Texas, Virgina, and Wisconsin.

This was the 3rd year that Macatawa Cycling Club organized and ran the event. I would like to thank Marshall Michmerhuizen and Krisanne Chapin for all of their tireless work in making this the best Holland Hundred ever.
